Covid-19 Vaccine in Northern Utah–

Today, I got the Covid-19 Vaccine at our local Department of Health. This was one of the most carefully designed and executed medical venues I have ever experienced. Recall that in my former life I was a registered nurse. I worked at the Utah Valley Hospital in Provo, UT on the maternity floor and the eye division; Primary Children’s Hospital serving non-ill orthopedic children; Shriner’s Hospitals for Children, orthopedic children.

The National Guard supplied instructions and directions in the parking lots and administered the vaccine. Since I have asthma, it is hard for me to wear a mask for more than 30 minutes. I told the people who checked me in about it and they smiled and told me I would be finished in 10 minutes. Actually, I think it was less. I spent the fifteen minutes wait time, to be sure that I had no reaction, in my own car.

Forgot to ask if I am contagious for any time–I will just stay put until I know if there is any reaction at all. So far I’m fine. Another vaccine milestone behind me!

I believe in vaccines and have gladly gained immunity to whatever diseases are around. I took care to see that my family received vaccines as well. Natural immunity from disease by actually having the illness may be the preferred way for many people. The dangers of measles, whooping cough, small pox, and other diseases that decimated whole communities in the past seem too great to take the risk as far as I’m concerned.

I’m glad for flu shots and pneumonia shots that enable me to avoid the flu and  pneumonia that I had Spring and late Fall, every year after I developed asthma. The shots now available for asthma are too dangerous by far for me to take the risk. So I treat my asthma differently–trying to avoid the triggers that bring on an attack for me.And prophylactic meds to keep attacks at a minimum.

This may be more than you really want to know–but, I recommend that you get the Vaccine for Covid-19. The military have it down-pat in Northern Utah. And, the real risk, it seems to me is the 500,000 American deaths in just one year! I don’t want to lose any more loved ones. And I am not through with my life’s story yet either. PS Vaccines are on order by the mega-millions of doses somewhere near you. Don’t let them go to waste!
