I went to open a new ream of plain white paper for the photocopy machine.\u00a0 Instead of a plain white wrapper, the wrapper had the picture (in color) of a young boy holding his math test with an A+ in red above his head.\u00a0 Under the photo was this caption:
\n“It’s Better to Learn on Paper<\/strong>.”\u00a0 I can understand this slogan. Let me invite you to plan ahead–to attend one or more Expos or Retreats this year.\u00a0 Holly Hansen and I will team-teach the Retreats with special research speakers and assistants.\u00a0 We have planned a whole new curriculum–with hands-on visits to archives and libraries.\u00a0 And a chance to learn first-hand, the value and power of original documents on paper–THE ORIGINALS!<\/p>\n

At each Expo, I will have a booth with my books and information products available for sale (so you can choose what guidance will help you most without having to pay postage).\u00a0 These books are also on paper.You can also attend my presentations (on Powerpoint) with accompanying handouts and maps on subjects different from the material covered at the Retreats.\u00a0 Yet, each presentation promotes using the Genealogy Research Process<\/strong><\/em> to guide and instruct you.\u00a0 This is the process that I use myself in the client research I do–also on paper.In my humble opinion, there is no substitute for being able to examine the original documents and the context that produced those records for each ancestor and all the relatives of that ancestor.\u00a0 You don’t want to look for a hard-to-find ancestor in a vacuum away from relatives and context.So I like to do it all on paper.\u00a0 Where I can shift the data around to ensure that each and every piece fits.\u00a0 Where I can give data and take away data to accommodate the truth.<\/p>\n
