I spent Christmas Eve with my daughter and her sons and Christmas Day with my son and his family&#8211;12 people for dinner (not counting two little girls.<\/p>\n<p>My grandson Jesse called at 6:30 am to tell me not to drive in the blizzard, his Dad Richard would come after me in the 4-wheel-drive truck. And shovel me a walk space through the drifted snow. Then it took us almost 6 hours to unwrap all the gifts&#8211;one by one, each one in turn, as family members came and went in the snow. What a Christmas we have had.<\/p>\n<p>And not one sleigh or pair of ice skates or snow board in the lot. Winter coats to be sure&#8211;but no mittens. No ear muffs. Almost none of the trappings of winter&#8211;not even the fireplace. Just snow and more snow.<\/p>\n<p>It has been along time since we had this much snow, covering the whole state, on Christmas day.
