Today is 22 April, not 20\/21 March.\u00a0 And Spring has been a long time coming to Tremonton UT and I suspect, to much of this country.\u00a0 So I thought I would identify just a few of the annual rites of Spring where you can participate.<\/p>\n
Festivals galore, all across the country:<\/strong><\/p>\n Arbor Day (celebrated all month, somewhere)<\/p>\n Asparagus (CA)<\/p>\n Apple Blossoms (WA)<\/p>\n Airplane Fly-ins (NC)<\/p>\n Azalea (OK)<\/p>\n Bikes (IL)<\/p>\n Blues (LA)<\/p>\n Bulldogs of Beauty (IA)<\/p>\n Boat and Canoe Show (PA)<\/p>\n Cherry Blossoms (Washington DC)<\/p>\n Crafts and Hobbies (MD)<\/p>\n Daffodil (MA)<\/p>\n Dogwood (IN<\/p>\n Flower (SC)<\/p>\n Jazz (WV)<\/p>\n Kites (MI)<\/p>\n Maple Sugar (VT)<\/p>\n Music (AR)<\/p>\n Pear Blossoms (OR)<\/p>\n Storytelling (KY)<\/p>\n Strawberry (TX)<\/p>\n Wildflower (TN)<\/p>\n Rain fell for almost 15 hours in Northern Utah–a light to moderate rainfall–and remarkable since we have had almost no moisture in Northern Utah in 2010.\u00a0 And the trees and their buds awakened.\u00a0 Now we have green leaves.\u00a0 And as I drove to the Family History Library yesterday, I counted the many shades of green along the Wasatch front.\u00a0 This is my very favorite time of year–when the buds first open to reveal their green–every shade of green you can think of.<\/p>\n When I left for California to speak at the Immigrant Library on Emigration\/Immigration, not one leaf had appeared in my yard.\u00a0 When I returned home after the Family History Expos April Retreat, not one leaf–although the buds were trying.\u00a0 Just needed the rain to spring into green.<\/p>\n In Memoriam:<\/strong><\/p>\n Judy Goyette, 28 Mar 2010.\u00a0 Judy attended the annual Christmas Tour sponsored by Leland and Patty Meitzler for many years, working on her Virginia ancestry.\u00a0 Her beautiful smile and cheery hello will be missed.
