My system of genealogy research guarantees a high rate of accuracy and thus, success.\u00a0 It is not, however, a speedy approach.<\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. Research connections <\/strong>determine the path of the study.\u00a0 This includes access to sources that will solve the problem.\u00a0 Each and every genealogy library has different resources.\u00a0 All the way from donated\u00a0family histories to maps to periodicals by subscription to online databases and scanned images.\u00a0 Even microfilm copies of the United States Census will vary from library to library. Why?\u00a0 Because reference librarians cater to patrons’ interests.\u00a0 And patrons and their lineages differ.<\/li>\n
  2. My clients<\/strong> come from all over the US, with one or two from Canada and the U.K.\u00a0 So their pedigrees include a variety of ancestors<\/span>.\u00a0 They number more than 600 clients\u00a0for whom I have done the research and another 400+ who wanted to do the research themselves under my direction.<\/li>\n
  3. My areas of specialty<\/strong> are:\u00a0 Southern US with special interest in Virginia, Maryland, Tennessee, and Kentucky; New York with close neighbors Vermont, Connecticut, and Rhode\u00a0 Island; Native American ancestry; British Isles–England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, and the Isles of the Sea.\u00a0 A keen interest in Swiss ancestry and some parts of Southern Germany have\u00a0expanded my research skills here as well.\u00a0 These specialties attract clients whose ancestors originate in these places and provide a focus for the work that I do.\u00a0 Where surnames match, I can combine the research through the same sources so you get good mileage for your research investment.<\/li>\n
  4. The Genealogy Library Center, Inc<\/strong><\/em>., which my husband Alma and I established in Tremonton UT to house the personal genealogy collections of retiring\/retired genealogists so they would not be thrown out or otherwise lost.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Including my own rather large collection (which even now\u00a0fills most of my 8-bedroom home from floor to ceiling).\u00a0 This research center provides access to highly focused and specialized genealogy materials<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  5. DNA studies<\/strong> linking pedigrees within known family relationships and matches beyond known family ties.\u00a0<\/li>\n
  6. My speaking schedule<\/strong> takes me close to many\u00a0genealogy libraries and archives, so I usually try to combine a seminar with time to research these local facilities.\u00a0When I know the collection is available that will expand\u00a0a pedigree–I am unable to spend my time on resources that might<\/em> expand it.\u00a0 Getting to the collection is the key.\u00a0<\/span> Since I usually work on the hardest-to-find ancestors, using field researchers to search unfamiliar records\u00a0may not be practical.\u00a0 My research guarantee requires my expertise.\u00a0 And doing two things at once usually keeps the costs more \u00a0reasonable.\u00a0 Such planning takes time.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Look, I have trained some really good genealogists.\u00a0 And I utilize their services where I can.\u00a0<\/p>\n

    Reading property documents is not a chore that I assign to others.\u00a0 Understanding the property process with its accompanying legal background, is less widespread than reading the census–it requires experience as well as study.<\/p>\n

    What does all this have to do with Your Genealogy?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Instant research reports are\u00a0 self-defeating.\u00a0\u00a0You want the answers<\/span>, not just a description of conclusions that could be drawn if we had access to the records.\u00a0And since I prefer to supply proven ancestors, I continue to search until I find the answers.<\/p>\n

    Don’t\u00a0give the Pirates of the Pedigree<\/strong> cause to cheat you of these answers.\u00a0 Allow time for your ancestors to be found.\u00a0 Your favorite genealogist, Arlene Eakle<\/p>\n
