Veteran’s Day, 2020–A New Legacy of Honor

The November issue of Smithsonian Magazine describes the new Veteran’s Monument  on the National Mall–a Legacy of Honor remembering the contribution of Native Americans to our national safety. These peoples have been part of the armed forces of the United States since the American Revolution and serve at one of the highest rates per capita of any Americans.

This new memorial, The Warrior’s Circle of Honor was sculpted by Cheyenne-Arapaho artist, Harvey Pratt. The steel circle is balanced on a war drum. It is stunning in its simple portrayal of this native icon. Commissioned by Congress, the memorial depicts the amazing contribution of Native Americans to our national well-being.

Many thanks. For the service. For the memorial. For the people who sacrificed in our behalf.
